Robotic competitions are effective tools for getting students interested in science and technology. However, because of the high equipment costs and substantial training involved, Myanmar students often to do not get exposure to such programmes.
Myanmar Robotians Competition aims to address this problem by creating an opportunity for young engineers interested in robotics. The goals of the competition are to excite students (as well as the general public) who are not familiar with robotics, encourage students to pursuer further education in robotics and allied disciplines, and provide students with real-world skills and experience that they can use in various aspects of their educational and professional lives.
The 2019 edition of the Myanmar Robotians Competition was organised by the Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies and Hubtive Technology on December 21, 2019. The contest had two events – Senior Competition (for university students) and Junior Competition (for students under the age of 19 years). This year, the Senior Competition saw participation from 8 teams from 8 universities all over Myanmar, while 15 teams participated in the Junior Competition.
UCS(Sittway) was represented at the contest by a team in the Senior Competition (Team UCS(Sittway) – Maung Maung Oo, Aung Si Thu, Thet Paing Soe, Than Htay Aung, Htay Than Aung). MIIT put in a stellar performance. Team UCS(Sittway) won the Best Design Award in the Senior Competition. Our heartiest congratulations to all the winners!
As such, the performance of these students is worthy of praise and commendation. We hope that the success of these teams will inculcate a healthy culture at UCS(Sittway) and inspire other students to take up robotics not only as a hobby but as a viable profession as well!
